No Re-color stikes again!

In their eminent wisdom, the PowerPoint team has chosen to get rid of Re-color’s one to one color replacement and have settled for an eviscerated carcass instead.  I guess they don’t expect a lot of graphs and charts to be recolored, although that’s all we ever seem to use it for.  Not sure what they were thinking there.  Anyways, we now have to bring things into Illustrator or Photoshop to recolor, and it’s a more laborious process to be sure.

Strange text wraping

Hmm… can’t get “civic” to back up to the line above for some reason.  Have to use a soft return to fix it.   And it keeps happening.  A most definite bug.

More updates and bugs a’coming

Sorry for the lack of updating.  Didn’t think anyone actually saw the site.  But after some thought it makes sense.  Because whenever I go a’looking for some info about a particular bug, I never find anything at all.  It’s always a black hole of searching.  Google is useless!  Maybe at least this site can me a kind of tomb, mausoleum, or altar where bugs, quirks, and general pretensions can be offered up for the spirits that roam amongst us.  So stay tuned for dozens of more postings!  Now with pictures!

Word footer paragraph border shading

It seems that to change the paragraph border in a footer in Word 2007, you can’t use your trusty right-click menu. “Borders and shading” won’t be there. And because it’s not there you think to yourself, “I guess it’s not an option then.” Oh but it is! And it’s the only way to do it. (Avoiding drawing a line of course) You have to use the Ribbon border button and the bottom of that button menu has the option for “Borders and shading” where you are taken to what you were looking for in the first place. Which by the way still has all it’s quirks in place. Doesn’t seem very easy nor obvious to me.  And since when is that icon the one for Border and Shading?  I feel like I’m speaking another language here.

Properties toolbar?

We understand the need to simplify the interface to achieve a grand zen state of existence, but sometimes, having a properties panel or toolbar is really, really useful. Those of us who have to say, create a complex graphic in PowerPoint, get pretty unnerved by having to go to a haggle’s worth of Ribbon Tabs and dialog boxes to get at things that should be all in one place.

Can’t tab from Height to Width in Ribbon

Format Tab > Size Group > Height and Width
You cannot tab to get from Height to Width!!!  So annoying!  So obvious no?  Trying to size a box to a specific size.  Enter one number hit tab… hmmm.. hit tab…. hit tab, tab tab tab tab.  I guess it’s not going to work.

Please, dear God, allow me to customize the Ribbon.

Repeat three times before bed.

How Microsoft is improving their code…

This made my day. Is it real? If it isn’t, then it’s so well made it’s real enough for this guy. Please enjoy. Just imagine it’s the Office 2007 group that gets this new corporate initiative first. But what’s up with all the head sensors people are wearing? Electrical brain “stimulation?”

Invisi-boxes

PowerPoint does this thing now, that’s like, totally annoying when I draw boxes.  Sometimes, if I’m drawing a box, it will show no outline of the box.  So retarded!  Don’t know why.  Thought it was because the Line, ah-em, I mean “Outline” is set to No Line, I mean, “No Outline,” but I’m not so sure now.  I wonder if it’s a creepy crawly.

Printing…..zzzzzzz….

By George, I do believe I asked for it to print 10 minutes ago.  Hmm… still counting up pages…I’d say it takes 3-5 times longer to process now.  Back to funny video watching.
